Jordan Ledy is an LA-based director and photographer that uses bold compositions and vibrant environments to tell stories. Jordan believes that forging genuine emotional connections with his subjects is essential to crafting unique photographs, and through years of experience in both documentary and narrative filmmaking, he has cultivated the quick creative instincts needed to improvise, seize fleeting moments and transform everyday life into the evocative images that define his style.
Jordan Ledy earned his MFA from USC's acclaimed School of Cinematic Arts in 2014, concentrating on documentary directing, cinematography, and editing. His academic pursuits translated into global opportunities, including Beyond Shepherd's Field, a poignant documentary short about an orphanage village near Beijing, and It's Better In Italian, his 2014 documentary featurette about the world of Italian doppiatori, the voice actors who dub English movies into Italian. Executive produced by Paul Feig, the film clinched top honors at the Palm Springs International Shortfest in 2015. Jordan's documentary background equipped him with skills he uses everyday in his photography: how to innovate with limited resources, make quick creative decisions in unfamiliar environments, foster a genuine bonds with subjects for a more profound photographic connection, and weave compelling, emotionally resonant stories.
In 2015, Jordan began a longstanding collaboration with the clothing brand Allsaints’ The LA Sessions, a series of clothing branded music videos featuring both emerging and established music artists, including Imagine Dragons, Lizzie McAlpine, Bones, Elah Hale, The Scarlet Opera, and many more. Jordan directs and produces the series, combining his eye for detail and lifelong love of music (he is also an accomplished guitarist and musician).
During the pandemic, the combination of isolation and the need for a socially-distant creative outlet led Jordan to an unexpected return to his roots in still photography. Dusting off the old Canon AE-1 he had inherited from his grandfather back in high school, Jordan rediscovered his passion for analog photography, eventually using vintage equipment with contemporary techniques to develop his own unique visual style. Jordan has poured countless hours into honing his craft and developing a portfolio that speaks to his point of view: bold, improvisational, exciting, and intimate.
No matter what project you have in mind, Jordan will help you define your vision and capture it with striking imagery.
